Miguel Kiwi Tichauer (1938-)


Academic Professor at the Faculty of Physics. In 2007, he received the Premio Nacional de Ciencias Exactas (National Award for Exact Sciences) for his 40 years of contribution to the development of physics in Chile. He formed many PhD students and did influential research on condense matter. This mechanical engineer from the Universidad Federico Santa María completed posgraduate studies at the University of Virginia and is one the world's most quoted scientist in his field of research, according to the Essential Science Indicators. At the UC, he has able to achieve one of his dreams: help our students become active players in the international scientific community.
