Mabel Condemarín Grimberg (1931-2004)


She received a teaching degree from the Escuela Normal in La Serena. Later, she went to the State College in Los Angeles, USA., to study strategies for teaching writing and reading. In 1972, she became a professor of the Departameto de Educación Especial y Diferencial (Department of Special and Differential Education) at the Faculty of Education, Universidad Católica. Later, she started lecturing for the Master's Degree Program at the School of Psychology, where she worked for 20 years. In 1990, she became part of the Ministerio de Educación (Ministry of Education) to be in charge of the language area of the Programa de las 900 Escuelas (Program for 900 schools). She was a key player in the dissemination of reading methods throughout Latin America. In 2003, she received the Premio Nacional de Ciencias de la Educación (National Award in Education Sciences).
