María Olivia Monckeberg Pardo (1944 - )


This journalist graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and started her professional career writing for Debate Universitario (University Debate), one of the publications of this university. She also worked at the magazines  Ercilla, Hoy and Análisis, and in newspapers such as La Época y La Nación.  In 1984 she received the Premio Internacional de Periodismo Louis Lyons (Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism), bestowed by the Nienman Foundation,  University of Harvard. In 2009, she received the Premio Nacional de Periodismo (National Award for Journalism) as a recognition of her work in the area of research journalism and the publication of a number of books of great social impact. Currently, she works as Director of the Instituto de la Comunicación e Imagen (Comunication and Image Institute), Universidad de Chile, where she is also associated professor.
