Héctor Croxatto Rezzio (1908-2010)


Medical Surgeon from the Universidad de Chile. Professor for the Physiology course at the Instituto de Educación Física (Institute of Physical Education), Universidad de Chile and also for the Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Católica de Chile. In 1958, he was appointed Academic Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine,  Universidad Católica de Chile, where he was also acting Dean from 1958 to 1959. In 1985, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile honours him with the title Doctor Scientiae et Honoris Causa. He was also a Professor for the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Universidad Católica de Chile. In 1979, he is granted the National Award in Science for his research in experimental endocrinology (study of pituitary hormones and its effects on the kindneys and high blood pressure); experimental high blood pressure (possible causes and incidence of kidney failure); and study of peptides linked to the balance and development of high blood pressure.
