Pilar Vergara Tagle


She was awarded the Premio Nacional de Periodismo (National Award for Journalism) in 1993. Pilar Vergara graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. During many years, she worked at El Mercurio, where she was a designer and editor of the D section, Featured Articles. In 1981, she became editor-in-chief of the newspaper La Segunda, to which she dedicated more than 30 years of her career. Eventually, she worked as editor of Information Services.
In 1988, she was recognized with the "Lenka Franulic" Award, and in 1991 with the Embotelladora Andina Award. She was awarded the "Carmen Puelma" Award in 2003.
Furthermore, in 2001 she received the Distinguished UC Alumni Award from the Asociación de ex Alumnos (Alumni Association).
At the School of Journalism, UC, she worked as professor of journalistic writing.
