Beatrice Ávalos Davidson (1936-)

Born in Santiago in 1935, she graduated in 1957 from the career of Pedagogy in History and Geography at UC. She received a Fullbright scholarship that allowed her to do PhD studies at St. Louis University United States and was an academic at UC between 1962 and 1974. She was also a professor at University College Cardiff, University of Wales (1974-1988), professor at the University of Papua New Guinea (1988-1994), professional of the Ministry of Education of Chile (1994-2010).

In 2008 she joined the Center for Advanced Research in Education at the University of Chile.

Some of his most outstanding contributions in Chile are the creation of the Interdisciplinary Program of Research in Education (PIIE); its contribution to teacher professionalization policies during the 1990s, from the MECE-Media Programs and Strengthening of Initial Teacher Training; and the direction of the Millennium Nucleus on the Teaching Profession in Chile, at the CIAE study center of the University of Chile.
