Ernesto Livacic Gazzano (1929-2007)


He studied to be a Teacher of Spanish at the Instituto Pedagógico (School of Education), Universidad de Chile. He obtained a degree as Education Planner from UNESCO and a Master´s degree in Education from Universidad Católica. He was Dean of the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters), Universidad Católica. Also, he was technical secretary for the Superintendencia de Educación Pública (Superintendency of Public Education) (1965-1969) and, Assistant Secretary for Education of the Chilean government (1969-1970). He was also part of the Consejo Nacional de Educación (National Council of Education) (1965-1973).
In 1989, he received the Orden al Mérito del Consejo Mundial de Educación (World Council for Curriculum and Instruction Order of Merit) and, in 1993, he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Educación (National Award for Education).
