The Long Recovery of Ukraine: Join the Global Academic Solidarity

Following Monday, the Ukrainian Catholic University will hold the meeting: «Recovery of Ukraine: Global Academic Solidarity.»

As they say on their website, "Ukraine's rebuilding will be a long and complex process requiring considerable effort from many local, national and global players. Yet, at the same time, it gives hope to all Ukrainians already."

Topics they will cover:

• Human capital as an element of recovery: What human capital will Ukraine have in 1-5-10 years? Ukraine is a laboratory of social transformation.
• A new social contract: How can representatives of education, business, government, and international partners interact in a new way?
• Action learning: How to change education in Ukraine and how can our international partners support Ukraine now
• International help: What kind of solidarity need Ukraine?

Panellists who address these issues:

• Vlad Rashkovan. He is an Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, representing Ukraine and fourteen other states on the IMF Executive Board. He also has served as Deputy Governor and a Member of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), responsible for developing and implementing the strategy for the Ukrainian banking sector reforms and a turnaround transformation project within the National Bank of Ukraine.
• Anna Novosad. She is a Ukrainian educational activist and co-founder of the charitable foundation savED. She served many years in various positions at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, including being a Minister from 2019-2020.
• Archbishop Borys Gudziak. He is the Metropolitan Archbishop of Philadelphia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and President of the Ukrainian Catholic University. He founded the Institute of Church History and served as the rector of UCU until 2012. Between 2012 and 2019, he was appointed Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, and Switzerland.
• Volodymyr Turchynovskyy. He is Dean of the UCU Faculty of Social Sciences and Director of the UCU International Institute for Ethics and Contemporary Issues. He is the editor of Ethics in the Global World: Reflections on Civic Virtues and has published numerous articles and book chapters in Ukrainian and English.
• Dmytro Sherengovsky. He is UCU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization. He is a political scientist specializing in International Relations and Conflicts, Human Rights in International Politics, and Regional and Global Security. Likewise, he has published numerous articles in Ukrainian and English, particularly about the war in Ukraine.
