Maria Montt Strabucchi
Vice President for International Affairs
It is the authority responsible for leading and executing the University's international relations policies. Leads the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs.
Duties
- Promote, manage, and coordinate programs and projects that support the internationalization of the University.
- Link and represent the University to international agencies and academic institutions of interest.
- Manage institutional academic agreements that favor academic exchange in general.
- Manage and administer international mobility programs from and to the University.
- Collaborate with the Office of the Vice President of Research and Graduate in the management of double degree and dual degree programs at the University.
- Disseminate the University's programs, particularly graduate programs, at the international level to attract international students.

Career
Maria Montt holds a BA in History from UC Chile, an MA in Chinese Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, and a PhD in Latin American Cultural Studies from the University of Manchester. She is an associate professor at the Institute of History and a member of the UC Chile Center for Asian Studies, CEA UC.
Her research focuses on cultural and diplomatic relations between China and Latin America, as well as between Asia and Latin America, with a special focus on cultural history and public history. She has also explored the perception, representation, and imagery of "Chinese" and Asian culture in the region, researching the Chinese diaspora and Asian communities in Latin America, as well as travel to and from China from an interdisciplinary perspective.
She has served as Vice President for International Affairs since 2025.
