María Fernanda Vicuña Ureta

Vice President for Finance

It is the unipersonal authority of the University that heads the Office of the Vice President for Finance.   

Duties

  • Proposes policies in budgetary, financial, and economic matters; asset management and administration of funds and reserve assets; student financing; personnel, including selection, performance management, training, and organizational development, benefits, and compensation administration; services, physical space, and infrastructure, for the best compliance with the objectives and goals defined by the University. 
  • Collaborates with the control of the resources of each unit of the University, ensuring compliance with the global and specific policies of the University. 
  • Prepare and present the University's annual budget and direct the efforts of budgetary monitoring and economic-financial management for the units that comprise it. 
  • Manages infrastructure projects approved by the University and its Units within their investment plans.

 Her Career

María Fernanda Vicuña holds a degree in Business Administration from UC Chile. 

Over the course of her career, she has worked in the financial sector, the public sector, and, since 2014, at UC Chile. 

At UC Chile, she served as Director of Finance and Management at the Faculty of Economics and Management from 2014 to 2017, and since 2017, she has been Director of the Office of Human Resources within the Office of the Vice President for Finance. 

Throughout this time, she has placed a strong emphasis on the people who make up the UC Chile community, recognizing their value not only for their professional contributions but also as individuals whose well-being and development are essential to the institution’s success. She has led key initiatives, including the implementation of the Professional and Administrative Management Policy, the Compensation Policy for Professional and Administrative Staff, and the Administrative and Professional Women Development Program. 

Since 2018, she has served as an Expert Professional in the Senior Public Management System, and since 2020, she has been a director of the UC Chile Sports Club (CDUC).

She has served as Vice President for Finance since 2025.
