Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies is responsible for developing and implementing the University's doctoral training, research and creation, innovation, and transfer policies, as well as its national and international collaboration policies for research and postgraduate studies. It also promotes and implements academic policies related to publications, artistic creation, intellectual property, and all multidisciplinary research and knowledge development at UC Chile and its regional centers and stations.
María Angélica Fellenberg Plaza
Earned both her undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Agricultural Sciences from UC Chile and holds a Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, with a specialization in healthy foods, from the University of Chile. She is a professor at the Faculty of Agricultural and Natural Systems, where she has built an outstanding career spanning more than 25 years. In 2023, she became the first woman to serve as Dean of the faculty in its 120-year history.

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies is responsible for developing and implementing the University's doctoral training, research and creation, innovation, and transfer policies, as well as its national and international collaboration policies for research and postgraduate studies. It also promotes and implements academic policies related to publications, artistic creation, intellectual property, and all multidisciplinary research and knowledge development at UC Chile and its regional centers and stations.
a) Proposes postgraduate policies and approves or modifies the study plans and programs offered by the Faculties;
b) Develops policies for the development of research, innovation, intellectual property, technology transfer, and artistic creation;
c) Ensures the proper execution of research, development, and creation projects in terms of ethics, bioethics, and security;
d) Establishes the admissions processes, benefits, and administration of doctoral programs;
e) Proposes, reviews, and approves agreements or partnerships with other universities, both national and international, regarding doctoral studies, in coordination with the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs. Also approves those related to research and creation, and
f) Together with the Provost for Institutional Management, directs and guides the relationship with those institutions, organizations, centers, consortia, or other entities linked to the University that focus on basic and applied research, technological development, and the creation, transfer, and scaling of solutions for the public, private, and civil society sectors.

UC Chile Avanza
An initiative that promotes high-risk, high-impact projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences and technology, from fundamental research and creation to their most applied forms, addressing strategic challenges in Chile and around the world.
Network of Regional Centers and Stations
Promotes science and creation throughout the territory, supporting research, teaching, and outreach from the Atacama Desert to the southern regions. The network connects nine sites located in emblematic ecosystems in Chile and, through them, broadens and decentralizes UC Chile’s connection with the county and its challenges.
Manufacturing Laboratory Network
An institutional initiative that coordinates laboratories from different UC Chile units to support manufacturing and prototyping, foster interdisciplinary research, and promote the safe and efficient use of resources.
PAR Explora - South-East Santiago Metropolitan Region
Run by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, under the academic direction of the Faculty of Education, to connect the CTCI (initialism in Spanish for Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation) ecosystem with educational communities through early childhood initiatives, with funding from the Ministry of Science. PAR (Regional Associative Projects, as per its acronym in Spanish) Explora is a program for scientific and technology outreach in public schools.
UC Chile Edulab
Promotes the transformation of the scientific research by University teams into innovative teaching solutions to improve the quality of education in Chile and around the world; with spaces for experimentation with R&D and new ways of generating innovative solutions for education.
BRAIN Chile
A program that accelerates scientific and technological ventures (TRL 3-5), linking science, innovation, and business to bring technologies from the laboratory to the market with global impact.
